My name is James Pearson and I am the executive director of J Pearson & Associates. We are a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to present the history of the African Diaspora. Over the past year we have presented films about the forced displacement of African Americans, i.e. Tulsa Race Riot, the story of Ida B. Wells and her crusade against lynching and the actor Danny Glover’s discovery of his cultural roots to the African continent. Now we will begin a regular presentation of these and other lessons starting with the history of convict leasing; the re-enslavement of black people after the civil war.
Please visit our website: www.jpearsonscholars.org for the compelling story of how the newly freed slave were thrust back into a condition that was considered “worse than slavery.”
